Marc Grierson

Marc Grierson - Event Manager

Since commencing his employment at the Corn Exchange in 2005, Marc has managed literally thousands of events for our clients. He specialises in transforming the venue from week long Conferences, Art Fairs, Awards Ceremonies, Black-Tie Dinners to Weddings. He has a degree in business management from Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University.

The Corn Exchange’s Big Big Christmas Parties are legendary and see over ten thousand party goers over the festive season, Marc commented “I absolutely love them, the venue looks amazing, the atmosphere is electric, the entertainment and food are first class, it just gets better and better each year”.

Marc’s first class customer care is acknowledged by our clients, many of whom return to have their event at the venue on a regular basis.

Paul Forrest

Paul Forrest - Event Manager

Paul has been part of the events management and health and safety team since joining the company in 2001. As one of the senior event managers Paul’s role is dynamic as well as varied.  No two days are the same, as an example, you can find him liaising with audio visual companies, working with promoters on artist riders, or acting as the operational interface with clients for their conference, exhibition or any other event.

Another important part of his role includes stock buying and control for the extensive range of drinks required for such a large venue with such a diverse range of clients and events. Part of this role requires Paul to keep the drinks options current and client centric – Brew Dog and Heineken being two recent examples.

He particularly enjoys meeting the many celebrities and stars who have either performed or visited the venue but the one thing that stands out for Paul was “holding the Scottish Cup with my son Max, I’ll never forget it”.

Ricky Asher

Ricky Asher - Health & Safety and Duty Manager

Wears two hats within the company as our Health and Safety and Event Manager. Ricky takes care of client & staff health and safety matters including fire safety, risk assessments, and overall housekeeping for the venue. With 11 years’ service at the Corn Exchange, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has recently succsessfully completed the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health qualification.

Event set ups, co-ordination and complex stage set-ups are a speciality, and Asian Weddings and large events are one of the areas he particularly enjoys.

Liam Clark

Liam Clark - Duty Manager

Liam has worked for the Corn Exchange for over 10 years, making sure the venue is client ready for a range of events including conferences, dinners, weddings & gigs .  He has operational responsibility to make sure that all the bars in the venue run smoothly, and liaises with our catering team before and during events too – accurate table plans and food served at the right time are such a vital part of any event.

The high energy atmosphere during gig sound checks, and getting to work with Kanye West and Beady Eye are just some of his personal highlights working here.

Erika Ferguson

Erika Fergusson - HR Manager

In 2005, Erika like many others started her Corn Exchange career working part-time whilst at uni. Having spent a number of years as duty and events manager and wedding co-ordinator, Erika’s role developed further in 2013 when she became our HR Manager.

Erika looks after recruitment and staffing for the Corn Exchange, client events and Bert’s Coffee Bar. An important part of her role involves staff training, and with the raft of strict licensing and food standards legislation a key element is to ensure that staff are trained and kept up-to-date in areas such as responsible drinking policies, weights and measures, food hygiene and preparation and complaints procedures to name just a few.

“I think one of my highlights must be hosting the Scottish Event Awards in 2011 and winning Best Large Venue at those awards in 2011 and 2012.”
