Wedding Makeup with Beautography

Beautiful and blushing, it is every bride’s dream to look her best on her wedding day. Whilst some consider themselves handy with a makeup brush, using a professional for your wedding makeup is a stress-free way to help you achieve your desired look. Specialising in wedding hair and makeup is the sister team of Julie and Nicola Friel at Edinburgh’s Beautography. Opening in 2010, Beautography offers the chance to take care of hair and makeup all under one roof with tailor-made bridal packages. There is even the option to have your hen party and wedding photography. Nicola says,

“One of the biggest benefits of getting your makeup done by a makeup artist is that it is less stress. We travel to you on the morning of the wedding. The most relaxed brides are the ones that don’t take off their pyjamas off until they put their dress on!  We have many years of experience on how to contour and enhance your face shape. The makeup is applied in a way that it will be more likely to last over the course of the day and evening. “

Like many aspects of your wedding, having a run-through beforehand is important and the same applies to your hair and makeup. After all, you are going to be photographed more on this day than any other and a trial can help give you peace of mind. Nicola says,

“A trial gives the bridal party a chance to try different styles and colours.  It’s a great way to get to know the bridal party and more importantly the bridal party is comfortable with us.  This is one of the most important days of your life to trial out! Usually our brides will bring in pictures of colours and styles they like so that we have something to work too on the trial day.”

Before the big day, try taking the time to get your skin looking glowing and radiant. Stress can have an impact so take some time out to relax and pamper yourself with a treatment such as a facial. This will not only ease any tension but will also help get your glow on. Julie says,

“An Elemis Facial at Beautography a couple of days before will brighten and even out skin tone.  Give your skin a course of facials and body wraps to really look and feel the best possible!”

And while all eyes will be on the bride, spoil the other members of the bridal party and make it a girlie experience with the mother of the bride and the brides.  And Nicola from Beautography says,

“We feel that it is better to have all the bridesmaids the exact same makeup, this looks great for pictures.  Eye colours will complement the dresses, perhaps using slightly different tones to compliment eye colour.
“The mother of the bride’s style and outfit is almost as important as the bride herself, she must compliment the bridal party and should go for the best outfit to compliment the wedding colours and her shape; something classy. Makeup is best a light coverage, emphasising more on eyes & lips.”
